Custom Injection Molded Cases and their Benefits

Injection molded cases are very unique in the way they are manufactured. The injection molding process involves feeding plastic into a heated barrel, mixing it, and pouring it into a mold. The plastic eventually cools and hardens to the specified configurations.

Benefits of Injection Molded Cases

  2. Cost Effective: The injection molding process in cost-effective and efficient, with minimal scrap losses.
  3. Production Rates: Because the injection molding process is so efficient, these cases can be manufactured at blazing rates with repeatable high tolerances.

PSI, your Baltimore Roto-Molded Case Manufacturer

Wednesday, March 6th, 2013

Rotationally molded cases, better known as roto-molded cases are cost-effective shipping cases produced using a three-stage rotational molding process.

  1. Heating Stage: A plastic charge is placed into the case mold, which is slowly rotated in two planes as heat transfer causes the plastic charge to conform to the mold.
  2. Cooling Stage: Using either air, water spray, or a combination of the two, the mold is then cooled.
  3. Load / Unload Stage: Finally, the case is removed from the mold and a new plastic charge is inserted.

The rotational molding process is a three-stage, no-pressure, plastic molding process that allows for the production of light-weight, seamless, stress-free cases. Best of all, the rotational molding process is much more economical than injection molding or blow molding.

Additional benefits of roto-molded cases include:

  1. Incredible durability
  2. Superior strength
  3. Easily customizable
  4. The ability to integrate metal parts and graphics
  5. Unlimited design possibilities!

Aside from the shipping cases, rotational molding can also be used to produce a wide variety of items, from toy dolls to agricultural equipment.
