Hard Vs. Soft Cases

Cases

Hard case or soft case: the world of custom cases can be confusing sometimes!

It may seem like a pretty simple distinction, but there are a whole host of reasons that can make choosing between a hard and soft case difficult. If you’re interested in purchasing some cases, you probably have some specific needs in mind. Whether you’re trying to transport military equipment or medical devices, you need to start thinking about what kind of cases you want. This includes choosing between a hard and soft shell case.

Hard Shell Cases

A hard shell case may be your best option if you’re going to be going through travel situations. They can stand up to a good deal of shuffling around and abuse. It doesn’t matter if you’re taking your case on the bus every day or flying from tradeshow to tradeshow, hard shell cases are the best option for transit. They’re especially great for technology items, as they can be padded or fitted with molding so your equipment won’t budge. They also work well for shock absorption so the products inside won’t break. If you ship your products you will certainly need a hard shell custom case, as soft cases aren’t really intended for shipping and receiving purposes.

Soft Custom Cases

Soft custom cases offer a different set of uses. They’re much lighter weight, so you won’t need to worry about lugging them around or getting help to store them. Their shape and weight make them much easier to get around, so for day-to-day use, they may be the best product for your needs. They’re also able to be stuck into smaller spots, which gives you some more leeway if you did want to use them as a carry-on container on a plane. They’re good for quick travel, something that isn’t too rugged or damaging on your valuables. Something like a camera you’re constantly taking with you or a backup guitar might be the best options for soft custom cases.
